The protective lens of handheld laser welding machines are often burned out. Here are several tips to extend the service life of the protective lenses for you.
1. Welding Angle
First of all, try to keep the Angle between the gun tip and the workpiece between 45 and 60 degrees, and try not to weld vertically at 90 degrees. The purpose is to reduce the damage to the lenses caused by welding spatter and laser reflection.
The welding material can also affect the lifespan of the protective lens. For instance, high-reflectivity materials such as aluminum alloy and copper, as well as galvanized sheets that are prone to welding spatter, will wear out the lens more quickly.
If any damage to the lens is found, it is essential to replace it with a new protective lens in a timely manner to prevent further damage to the internal components.
2. Air flow
Air flow rate is also a very important influencing factor. We recommend adjusting the gas flow rate to 10-15 liters per minute. It should be noted that when welding galvanized sheets, the gas flow rate needs to be adjusted to a higher level to reduce the entry of smoke and dust and splashes into the gun barrel and damage the protective lens.
3. Placing
When placing the welding torch after welding, try to keep the nozzle facing down to prevent dust from entering the nozzle. If the welding gun is not used for a long time, we need to use some adhesive tape to seal the gun head.
4. Gradual increase duration and gradual decrease duration
The setting of the gradual increase duration and gradual decrease duration in laser welding has a significant impact on the welding effect of laser welding. The setting of the gradual increase duration can control the power of the laser beam, and the setting of the slow fall time can control the welding speed, avoid the formation of pores and ensure the welding quality. The best welding effect can be achieved through reasonable adjustment.
The gradual increase duration and gradual decrease duration in the welding parameters are set to 100 milliseconds, which can prevent the lens from being damaged instantaneously by high-power light output.
5. Replacing
When replacing the protective lens, it is necessary to clean the dust on the surface of the welding torch and seal the window with tape to prevent dust from entering the torch body.
