Application of Laser Technology in Dental Implant Operation

With the development of modern dental implant technology in China, dental implant is becoming more and more popular among people with missing teeth.

Dental implants are known as third teeth after deciduous teeth and permanent teeth. The artificial tooth root (implant) is implanted in the jaw bone of the missing tooth through a small operation, which can be firmly entrenched in the jaw bone of the patient like a real tooth, making it heal with the jaw bone. It has the advantages of no injury to the adjacent teeth, no denture base caused by taste dullness and discomfort, better recovery of chewing function, and good appearance.

The traditional implantation process takes up to 6 months. After the preliminary inspection, preparation, and implantation, the suture needs to be removed after 1-2 weeks. The oral cavity model is reviewed after 6-12 weeks, and the crown can be worn 2-3 weeks later.

However, the current implantation technology can greatly shorten the time required for the implantation process, reduce the risk of infection, greatly reduce intraoperative injury and blood loss, reduce postoperative pain and swelling, and increase the recovery speed of the wound after bone binding. It can achieve immediate, minimally invasive, painless and precise implantation, and the operation can be completed in the same day.During the whole operation, the patient is completely painless and can easily pass the short operation time.

During the dental implant surgery, laser technology is indispensable. Although it is not possible to use laser technology to perform accurate hole preparation for bone tissue during implantation, lasers play a very important auxiliary role in implantation surgery.

The following is a detailed description of the specific application of laser technology in dental implant surgery.

Application of Laser Technology in Dental Implant Operation

Granulation tissue removal

Before planting teeth, if there are residual roots in the mouth, they need to be removed. After tooth extraction, there will be new granulation tissue (granulation tissue is the new fibrous connective tissue rich in capillaries). Because the new granulation tissue will be accompanied by inflammatory granulation tissue, the surgery needs to remove the granulation tissue.

When the laser removes the granulation tissue, it will not cause side effects on the bone tissue. It can safely clean the inflammatory granulation tissue in the operation area and retain as much healthy granulation tissue as possible.

Treatment of peri-implant inflammation

The accumulation of plaque is the initiating factor for inflammation around the implant. The use of laser light can play an effective mechanical cleaning role, enhance sterilization and biological stimulation.

Reduce postoperative swelling and pain

Using laser technology to cut the gums, you can get a clean and accurate incision, less bleeding during operation, no anesthesia, no pain, slight pain and swelling after surgery, fast wound healing, and reduce the incidence of postoperative bacteremia.

Promote rapid wound healing

During the operation, some small blood vessels can be closed to reduce bleeding, rather than stop the bleeding completely, and promote the quick healing of the wound.
